Government Coordination

Sometimes, communicating in and among government agencies is the greatest hurdle to complex land use projects.  The firm will employ its years of government experience to help you navigate through any level of bureaucracy.

Highlands Plan Conformance

Whether your community is in the Preservation Area, Planning Area or both, the firm provides services to those seeking "conformance" from the Highlands Council. We can complete any necessary up-dates to your planning documents and ordinances to achieve consistency with the Highlands Regional Master Plan.

Community Outreach & Visioning

Key to any comprehensive planning initiative is an effort to gain stakeholder input and support. The firm will work with you to determine an appropriate outreach strategy considering the scale of the project, size and demographics of the community, and any other relevant factors. The firm can also facilitate inter-governmental coordination, and/or mediate stakeholder conflicts.

Transfer of Development Rights (TDR)

TDR allows communities to permanently preserve their critical resources with private equity, while targeting growth to appropriate areas. The firm will conduct the public outreach and visioning necessary to achieve support for TDR, and complete the studies and plan documents necessary to meet the requirements of the State TDR Act.

TOD Planning

The firm can help you to better coordinate your land use with transportation networks. Services include development strategies that enhance transit ridership, as well as plans that facilitate better pedestrian and bicycle mobility in auto-dependant areas. The firm will also conduct the public outreach and visioning necessary to assess community needs.

Grant Writing

Finding technical and financial assistance is critical to achieving your community's planning goals. The firm can seek appropriate opportunities; including, Smart Future and other planning grants, as well as assistance services like those provided by the American Institute of Architects(AIA) and Urban Land Institute(ULI).

​Conservation planning

The firm can produce Open Space/Recreation Plans and Farmland Preservation Plans needed to attain funding from Green Acres and/or the State Agriculture Development Committee (SADC). We will work with your advisory committees to prioritize acquisitions and create a spending plan.

Land Acquisition

The firm can assist in individual preservation acquisition projects, or manage your entire acquisition program. We can fully serve your acquisition needs, from application to closing. We can also assist in forming funding partnerships for complicated land deals.
